Welcome To Lac Serreire & Badger's Holt - The Ultimate Carp Fishing Experience in France Email: lacserreire@outlook.com Tel: +33 587 75 49 24 This absolutely stunning two lake venue, open since 2003, is set in the beautiful Limousin countryside just 20 miles south of the region's capital Limoges. Owned and run as a big fish venue by long time experienced carp angler Simon Mansbridge and his wife Corinna. Lac Serreire is the ultimate French carp fishing venue. We have two superbly stocked lakes available to fish: Lac Serreire itself is 20 acres in size and has a prolific stock of carp to 80lb with a fantastic head of 40s, 50s and a number of fish between 60 and 80lb. Badger's Holt is the smaller of the two in size at just under 3 acres. This is renowned as a true big fish water with a lot of fish in the 50 to mid-70lb range including a 60+ common! Average weight in this lake is around 47lb with the biggest fish at 76lb. Both lakes are best suited to experienced carp anglers.

Lac Serreire - Lovely 58lb 3oz mirror from the Middle swim on the left bank last night. Caught at long range in open water. Very nice to see this fish up 5lb on it's 2014 weight even after they have now spawned. Dave also had a 47lb mirror, so it's a great start to the week - Congrats!

Today we started the annual job of chalking Lac Serreire (in the snow!). We are using Siltex as it is one of the best and safest products to use for the fish. Chalking significantly helps the natural process that breaks down silt, optimises water chemistry and also gives a big boost to the natural food cycle. We expect the carp to do really well after this in 2015. A big thank you to everyone that helped!!!

We are now underway with a total rebuild of the two lodges on Lac Serreire. The pictures here show the old kitchen areas which have now been totally stripped out. The roof has now been repaired and guttering fitted all round to reduce dampness. We will now be fitting new internal damp proof walling, showers, toilets, wash basin, chest freezers, kitchen, LED lighting and UK and European power sockets. All the old plumbing, drainage and electrics are also being replaced. The Badgers Holt cabin will also be totally stripped out, refurbished, re-wired and re-plumbed during this winter.

Badgers Holt winter work. Today we removed the old, almost dead, tree from the right of the second swim down from the cabin area. This tree was leaning dangerously towards the water and the low branches made playing fish difficult when fishing to the shallows. We also removed the potentially dangerous branches above the bivvy area of the main swim plus two old weak trees in the cabin corner of the dam. This little bay has been overgrown for a long time. Next we plan to rake it through to remove years of old sticks and leaves. The extra light and clean up of this corner should improve this area of the lake a lot in the coming years.

Our winter feeding campaign is now well under way. No lines and a good supply of high energy food throughout the winter - They are already showing all over the areas being fed after just a few days!

Badgers Holt success - Last night was a productive night for the lads with fish of 62lb (28.3kg) and 46lb (21kg) being landed! The last couple of days also produced mirrors of 45lb (20.6kg), 47lb (21.7kg) & 49lb (22.5kg). Nice average with the smallest of the five fish so far being 45lb. On Lac Serreire, Dave in the Woods swim ended up with three fish on at the same time yesterday and needed help with additional landing nets! The triple capture included a 44lb (20kg) mirror and a 40lb (18kg) common to go along with a 42lb mirror and string of other fish that Dave has landed over the last few days! November has certainly proved to be a great month this year! Full details to follow in the catch report at the weekend.

Lac Serreire - Mark had this 68lb (31kg) mirror last night along with another good 40 fishing at long range from Tim & Mary's swim. A lot of very big fish are showing out in the open water this week. Two 60s in the last two nights and still a couple of nights to go for Mark and John! November is definitely one of the best months of the year for catching the big ones.

Catch Report for the week of 27th September - 4th
Catch Report for the week of 27th September - 4th October: Badgers Holt was fished by Manfred and Georg Zisler from Germany for the second week of their two week session. They caught a total of 8 fish; Mirrors of 18kg (40lb), 23kg (50lb 10oz), 22kg (48lb 6oz), 25.6kg (56lb 5oz), 20.6kg (45lb 5oz), 22.8kg (50lb 3oz) & 19.6kg (43lb 2oz) and a 30kg (66lb) catfish. The fish were caught on a variety of methods and in different areas. The carp were extremely active almost every day with a lot of fizzing and showing. There still seems to be a lot of natural food available to them. However the water temperature is slowing dropping so the naturals should reduce over the next weeks. Looking forward to seeing you next year Manfred and Georg! On Lac Serreire, Dave, Mark, Terry and Tony from the UK had approximately 9 carp to 41lb (18.6kg). The fishing was tricky with the fish mainly showing at long range in the centre area of the lake. Also looking forward to seeing you again in 2015! On Lac Serreire, the lads who started yesterday had a great start with 6 fish hooked and 5 landed in their first night including a PB. The largest fish so far was a 22kg (48lb) mirror. Full details to follow in next weekend's catch report.

Catch Report for the week of 9th - 16th August:

B
Catch Report for the week of 9th - 16th August: Badgers Holt was fished by Steve & Joan Briggs who had a fantastic week including a new PB with JoJo at 72lb 4oz (32.8kg). Steve also landed mirrors of 52lb (23.6kg), 51lb 2oz (23.2kg), 50lb 8oz (23kg), 48lb 8oz (22kg), 48lb (21.8kg), 47lb 4oz (21.5kg), 32lb 8oz (14.8kg)and a catfish of 66lb (30kg). Average weight for the carp for the week was 50lb 4oz (22.8kg)! All the fish were caught on freezer boilies fishing over quite a lot of bait (once again high quality freezer baits scored really well - The fish have a strong preference compared to shelf-life preservative baits especially when there is also an abundance of natural food available). Steve and Joan have fished Badgers Holt for 10 years and finally catching JoJo was a memorable moment and I think Steve hasn't stopped smiling since! Congratulations Steve - See you next year on Lac Serreire for hopefully another even bigger fish!! :) On Lac Serreire Jan & Reno Vos from The Netherlands landed 17 carp from the Woods swim to 22kg (48lb 7oz). Jan and Reno worked really hard at their fishing all week, watching the water, baiting spots and adjusting their approach. The work paid off with bother PBs being broken several times! Most of the fish were caught on snowman pellet / boilies rigs over a mixture of boilies and pellets. In the Shallows and Middle swims on the left bank, Torben, Patrick and Marten from Germany also worked hard with their fishing to land 14 carp with many of them in the 30lb (14kg) bracket. Most were caught on maize hook baits fished over beds of pellets and boilies. See you guys next year! In the Outflow swim, Nick from The Netherlands landed a few fish including a fantastic looking mirror of 18.8kg (41lb 5oz). Nick was also unfortunate to lose a couple of fish that felt good. And in the Island swim Leo also landed a couple of carp. Thanks also to Torben for the great photo of the Rainbow over Lac Serreire!!

Catch Report for the week of 2nd - 9th August: Etienne Duits and his fishing partner from The Netherlands fished Badgers Holt for the week and landed 4 mirrors to 24kg (52lb 13oz). The fishing was tricky again but with perseverance it was possible to land some stunning fish. Steve and Joan Briggs are on Badgers Holt this week and had a great start with a 47lb (21kg) mirror this morning. Full report will follow next weekend. On Lac Serreire, David Liburn, Barbara, Phil, Phil, Mick and Brett from Belfast had a good week with 20 fish landed including mirrors of 62lb (28.3kg), 50lb (23kg), 49lb (22.6kg), 47lb (21.5kg) & 45lb (20.5kg). The fish were caught mainly from the shallow areas of the lake in 50-70cm of water over big beds of 16mm & 10mm Coppens carp pellets. The 50lb mirror was caught from the Woods swim after about 1 hour of arriving on Saturday! The lads also caught a cracking 42lb (19.4kg) common from the Woods swim. The catch included breaking PBs 8 times throughout the week!! Congratulations and see you next year!
Catch Report for the week of 26th July - 2nd Augus
Catch Report for the week of 26th July - 2nd August: Lac Serreire was fished by Richard & Louis McQuade, Mark James and Stuart from the UK. 30 carp were landed with the largest two fish to Stuart in the Island swim with mirrors of 58lb (26.4kg) and 46lb (21kg). Mark landed 16 fish from the Shallows swim and Richard & Louis had 9 from the Woods swim. The fish were caught mainly over beds of boilies and pellets but fishing with balanced particles on the rigs to avoid any attention from nuisance fish. The biggest fish came, as usual, from the open water areas being fished. On Badgers Holt, the fishing continued to be tricky with many fish showing and a lot of feeding activity but no fish landed. The natural food again seemed to keep the fish quite preoccupied. Latest news.... After just an hour or two of fishing, the lads on Lac Serreire this week had a 50 (23kg) from the woods swim yesterday afternoon! Great start to the week! Full information will be provided in the next catch report next weekend.
