Descripción :HOLIDAYS ARE ABOUT MAKING MEMORIES FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. THAT IS WHY WE GIVE 100 PER CENT TO MAKE YOUR HOLIDAY ONE TO REMEMBER #limousin #correze We (Peter and Simone) have been coming to the Corrèze, which is part of the Limousin region, for more than 10 years. We couldn't get enough of it and moved to the village Vigeois permanently in 2013 with our dog Ruby. What struck us most here was the beautiful untouched countryside. It’s like going back to basics in a comfortable setting and truly appreciating your surroundings. When we bought Maison La Marteille in 2004 it was nothing more than a pile of old stones and three walls. Although we both had our own companies in the Netherlands, we took on the challenge and are proud of what it has become. As we love to renovate and decorate to create your home away from home, we also bought the river house Maison Vieux Pont in 2012 and fixed it up. Both houses have a vintage chic interior with modern comfort in rural settings. The Corrèze's breathtaking scenery is ideal for walkers, cyclists, families, couples, and group holidays. Located on the border of the Dordogne region, you will enjoy the simple pleasures of exploring the delightful towns and villages, discover France's nature on hikes or canoe trips down the river, and spend your nights on the veranda watching the stars with a glass of wine. Holidays are all about making memories for you and your family. That is why we give 100 per cent to make your holiday one to remember. We look forward to welcoming you to your perfect cottage holiday soon. Carpe diem! www.harpergites.com

Must have: The bible of French home cooking, 'Je Sais Cuisiner', has sold over 6 million copies since it was first published in 1932. It is a household must-have, and a well-thumbed copy can be found in kitchens throughout France. Its author, Ginette Mathiot, published more than 30 recipe books in her lifetime, and this is her magnum opus. It's now available for the first time in English as 'I Know How to Cook'. With more than 1,400 easy-to-follow recipes for every occasion, it is an authoritative compendium of every classic French dish, from croque monsieur to cassoulet. Clear, practical and comprehensive, it is an essential guide to the best home cooking in the world: no cuisine is better than French at bringing the very best out of ingredients to create simple, comforting and delicious dishes. The recipes have been carefully updated by a team of editors led by Parisian food writer Clotilde Dusoulier, to suit modern readers and their kitchens, while preserving the integrity of the original book. The great reputation of 'I Know How to Cook' has been built over three generations by the fact that it is a genuine cookbook: each recipe has been cooked many times, and because it is used by domestic cooks rather than chefs. And with its breadth of recipes and knowledge of techniques, 'I Know How to Cook' doesn't just teach you how to cook French, it teaches you how to cook, period. In the tradition of Phaidon's other culinary bibles, 'The Silver Spoon', '1080 Recipes' and 'Vefa's Kitchen', 'I Know How to Cook' offers menus by celebrated French bistro chefs at the end of the book, including recipes by Daniel Boulud and Francois Payard.

Our thoughts go to the victims and their families .#jesuischarlie ("I am Charlie") is a statement used by supporters of free speech against the 7 January 2015 massacre in which 12 people were killed at the offices of satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo in Paris. The statement identifies the speaker with those who died at the Charlie Hebdo shooting, and by extension for freedom of speech and resistance to armed threats. Some journalists embraced the expression as a rallying cry for the freedom of self-expression. The statement was used as the hashtag #jesuischarlie on Twitter,as computer printed or hand-made placards and stickers, and displayed on mobile phones at vigils, and on many websites, particularly media sites. While other symbols were used, notably holding pens in the air, and tweeting certain images, "Je Suis Charlie" is more widespread. National day of mourning observed today in France. A minute of silence will be held at noon and flags will fly at half mast for three days. If you are for freedom of speech, please share the image.

French Christmas Traditions: On Christmas Eve, children leave their shoes by the fireplace to be filled with gifts from Pere Noel.(similar to the Dutch Sinterklaas tradition) In the morning they also find that sweets, fruit, nuts and small toys have been hung on the tree. In cathedral squares, the story of Christ's birth is re-enacted by both players and puppets. Nearly every French home at Christmastime displays a Nativity scene or crèche, which serves as the focus for the Christmas celebration. The crèche is often peopled with little clay figures called santons or "little saints." In addition to the usual Holy Family, shepherds, and Magi, the craftsmen also produce figures in the form of local dignitaries and characters. The craftsmanship involved in creating the gaily colored santons is quite astounding and the molds have been passed from generation to generation since the seventeenth century. Throughout December the figures are sold at annual Christmas fairs in Marseille and Aix. The Christmas tree has never been particularly popular in France, and though the use of the Yule log has faded, the French make a traditional Yule log-shaped cake called the buche de Nol, which means "Christmas Log." The cake, among other food in great abundance is served at the grand feast of the season, which is called le reveillon. Le reveillon is a very late supper held after midnight mass on Christmas Eve. The menu for the meal varies according to regional culinary tradition. In Alsace, goose is the main course, in Burgundy it is turkey with chestnuts, and the Parisians feast upon oysters and pat de foie gras. Le Revellion may consist of poultry, ham, salads, cake, fruit and wine. In Southern France, a log is burned in people's homes from Christmas Eve until New Years Day. A long time ago, part of the log was used to make the wedge for the plough as good luck for the coming harvest. The traditional Christmas is a chocolate log. In France families once had a Three Kings Cake with a bean hidden in it. Whoever found the bean in their slice was made King, or Queen, for the day. In France the children go out to look for the Kings, taking gifts of hay for the camels. Another name for this day is Twelfth Day. It is the last of the Twelve Days of Christmas, which used to be one long holiday. It was the last night of the Feast of Fools before the Lord of Misrule had to give up his crown and become themselves once again. In France it is a time for the whole family to come together at Christmas time to holiday and worship. On the eve of Christmas beautifully lit churches and cathedrals, ring out Christmas carols with the church bells. Once dinner is over and the family has retired to bed, they leave a fire burning and food and drink on the table in case the Virgin Mary calls in. Children leave their shoes or wooden clogs called sabots in the hearth for the Christ Child or Pere Noel to fill. In the north of France, children are given gifts on December 6, which is St. Nicholas' Day, instead of Christmas Day. The adults give each others presents on New Year's Day. French children set out their shoes in hopes that le petit Jesus will fill them during the night with small gifts.

Maison Vieux Pont was built around 1850 and has a rich history, the first owners (see photo) who lived in Paris and would come to Vigeois to open up the house as a hotel/restaurant for holiday makers and for the people who would come to Vigeois to visit the famous cow market in town. The train track in Vigeois made it even better for people to travel from and to Paris. We found many interesting items in the house which we will share you with you:) on this page. Have a great day!

Upcoming Food Festival: 'La Frairie des petits ventres' is one of Limoges's biggest events. It is a popular food festival which takes place each year on the 3rd Friday in October, in Limoges's famous Rue de la Boucherie. The “Frairie des Petits Ventres” is an annual and traditional food fair organised every third Friday of October in Limoges in the Butchers' quarter since 1973, on the initiative of the “Renaissance du Vieux Limoges” association. It is impossible to miss this highlight of Limoges life. Culinary experts and gourmets of all ages are always eager to meet up in a warm and joyful atmosphere. This event, a jewel of the food tradition in Limoges, brings together numerous artisans of Limoges and of the region who present Limousin specialities for sale all day long, such as tripe recipes, but also the galetous(thick crepe made with buckwheat flour that used to replace bread, it is savoured as an appetizer, filled with “grillons” pâté or other terrines, or as a dessert with “fromage blanc” cream cheese, jam or honey, as you like it), the “pâté de pommes de terre” (potato and meat pie), the “burgou” (traditional chestnut cake), the “treipaïs” (chestnut, chocolate and hazelnut cake), the “clafoutis” (cherry cake)... During the official launch, the statue of Notre-Dame-de-Pitié, also called Notre-Dame-des-Petits-Ventres, is held in procession; it is a reminder of the lady butchers' tradition in the Rue de la Boucherie, who, in the 19th century, celebrated the Virgin Mary under this name, on September 15. It was indeed at that time that the production of tripes started again after a break during the hot months of summer. Among these products were the “petits ventres” (little bellies): lambs’ stomachs stuffed with lambs’ feet. "Boudins aux châtaignes", "pâté de pommes de terre", "galétous", roasted chestnuts, "clafoutis" are just a few Limousin specialties you can taste during the event.

If I could I would apply! Dream job testing luxury hotel rooms in France A LUXURY hotel has launched a national hunt for a guest-tester to “test our rooms” - and English-speakers are welcome to apply for the dream job. Vertigo Hotel general manager Clémence Carminati said the test guest will be paid €2,000 to try out each of the hotel’s rooms and services over 42 days after it opens in Dijon in mid-December. Ms Carmanati said she had so far received more than 300 applications for the dream job in Côté-d’Or and they had come from all ages and backgrounds, including students, school-leavers, jobseekers, pensioners, PRs and bloggers. The job will involve writing tweets, Facebook entries and taking photos of their experiences as they try each room and sample different hotel facilities or services each day including spa treatments, room service, gym, full-size cinema and the hotel’s electric BMW i3 car. He or she will also have to try out the local restaurants and shops that feature in a guide book the hotel is compiling – plus take part in a tour of the Route des Grand Crus wine itinerary. Ms Carmanati said she was looking for someone with great communication skills, creative flair in keeping with the hotel’s innovative ethos and a “new eye” on the area. The job is open to bilingual French and English-speaking candidates, who could write their entries in English as the Vertigo hotel is part of the international Design Hotels group and is looking to attract visitors from across Europe, particularly from the UK and Benelux countries. The successful candidate will be chosen next month and start a week after the hotel opens. To apply contact Clémence Carminati at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone on +33 (0)7 71 04 04 97 or visit Vertigo Hotel - See more at: http://www.connexionfrance.com/Dijon-hotel-luxury-rooms-guest-dream-job-16254-view-article.html#sthash.G5r3i4sx.dpuf
